Fast rising DL Maa’imoa Havili commits to dream school, ‘I’m a BYU Cougar’
Salt Lake City (Utah) Granger defensive lineman Maa’imoa Havili just announced his commitment to BYU (https://www.on3.com/college/byu-cougars/) following his junior season. We talked to Havili just a few days ago and he acknowledged BYU was the dream school for him but wanted to take a few official visits first. That will no longer be the case. His final decision came earlier today after locking in his commitment.
‘Since I was a kid, BYU was where I wanted to play,’ Havili said. ‘This was the dream for me for a long time. This opportunity to play football at BYU is something I couldn’t pass up.’ He expressed gratitude to coach Kalani Sitake and Sione Pouh for offering him a scholarship, which allowed him to play football at BYU and feel excited now.
Havili emphasized that his ultimate goal is to play in the NFL and believed BYU can produce top-tier players. He also stated he’ll enroll at BYU as part of the class of 2029, having played inside and out and demonstrated speed and power. Havili plans to join the Mormon Mission immediately after high school, enrolling at BYU as part of this journey.
